The Soul Shoppe is one of my heavily research driven capstone projects from my time as a design student. The "Barber" has a very interesting role in society. To many, this is a friend, someone they trust to enhance their appearance. Barbers used to perform medical procedures until the field of medicine got too advanced. When this happened they were seen as pointless to society and their shops turned into hangout places full of story telling and mischief where people dare not go. Barbers joined together around the 1930s to uplift their image in society. This is where the main character for The Soul Shoppe was born. As much as people want to commercialize barbershops, what really sets one shop apart from the rest is the barbers and the heart and soul that they put into their craft when grooming others.
